Queer Weddings + Funerals
This picture is from a gathering after the Pulse Nightclub shooting. Many of the attendees were not part of the church through which I served the community. During the open mic time, they shared how uncomfortable it was to walk into a Christian space even though it professed to be open and affirming.
I get that. And I know that even queer-affirming spaces aren't necessarily queer-integrating. Places may welcome us but only to a point.
Which often leaves LGBTQIA2+ people without resources for significant life rituals and rites of passage, including weddings and funerals.
So I continue to offer those services even though I now serve beyond church walls.
If you are in a queer-identified partnership and are looking for an officiant, let’s talk. I can sign the paperwork for those partnerships that are currently recognized by the state of Illinois and Indiana but I treat poly, open, ace, and other queer and queered loving ways equally.
Death and grief do not frighten me. If you are approaching your own death or you are need of ritual in the wake of a bereavement, I would be honored to work with you to develop the moment that you need.
All are available as either spiritual or religious (within the Christian family tree) or something in between.
