How are things where you are? Too hot or too dry? Feeling normal despite all that is not?

I hope that if you have been targeted by ICE, you have found yourself surrounded by support unexpected.

I hope that if you are deployed overseas, you know how many of us do not want deplorable conditions or death for you.

I hope that if you live overseas, you do not experience the raging of American tyranny.

I hope that if you are seeking medical care for your own precious and singular self, that patriarchy and queerphobia and an apparent will to let children suffer do not get in your way.

Now for frogs and toads.

For the last two years, when spring has come, a small colony of toads and frogs have emerged in a window well at my home. This year I could see nine at one time. It was time to help them get free.

My very kind wife drilled toe holds into a treated 4x8, which we lowered into the well with the gentlest slope possible. Soon the first toad had begun their ascent:

And that was that for many hours.

But in the evening when I went outside, I saw the exodus had begun:

So did Dusty, unfortunately:

I checked on the little one: It was resting at the bottom.
​
And by morning, all of them were gone.
